Empowerment of Victims of Conflict in Bamenda

Bamenda conflict Relief Efforts

Most community-based approaches to conflict de-escalation and peace efforts have failed, largely due to the relegation and disempowerment of local communities, and women especially, in the design and implementation of peace processes. Our work seeks to lift up the community members of the regions most affected by violence so that they can lead the charge in peace building and take hold of their futures. The Atem Foundation has provided cash assistance to over 30 million families and victims of home destruction and violence during military operations in Bamenda. This assistance is intended to aid in alleviating victims' hardship while building tolerable avenues for community healing. By providing inspiration, guidance, and resources to heal psychological wounds and loss of resources, the Atem Foundation believes we can empower communities to take their role in the continuation of their communities and the building of a long-standing peace.
