History
The Atem Foundation Inc.
Advocators, Educators, and Empowerers of Change
Across the globe, due to violent armed conflict, political instability, natural disasters, and crisis events; women, children, and refugees worldwide are suffering from a lack of basic nutrition, housing scarcity, poverty, inadequate medical care, and an inability to live a life of dignity, humanity, and hope. Today, more than ever, increased number of children are malnourished and die daily due to lack of food, women go through the pain of fleeing from conflicts and undergo all forms of violence in new environments after forcefully displaced, as humanitarian response faces geopolitical constraints that limit aid to the most vulnerable.
The Atem Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to carrying out humanitarian, education, advocacy, and development work in impoverished communities worldwide. The Atem Foundation is currently focused on addressing the growing impacts of conflicts on civilian population, particularly on children, young girls, women, and persons with disabilities, and uplifting vulnerable groups and communities out of poverty. Our goal is aligned to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At the core of the Foundation’s work are the following:

Our Founding
Founded by humanitarian, democracy and elections specialist, and spiritual leader Henry Atem, the Atem Foundation provides life-saving assistance to displaced and crisis-affected persons, refugees, Internally Displaced Persons, and children and women from high-risk communities. Inspired by the founder, we seek to stand with the most vulnerable people and communities, affected by conflict, disaster, or pandemic. The Foundation’s core values rest with providing access, equality, diversity, democratic leadership, and evidence-based programming in our programs.
Through humanitarian relief, training and empowerment, education, and advocacy, research/sustainability efforts, and micro-finance developments, the Atem Foundation provides timely, efficient, and effective life-saving measures to regions afflicted by complex crises and conflict situations. Meeting the demands of humanity is at the core of the work of the Foundation. The experiences of our founder and the organization’s collective commitment to humanitarianism inspires us to offer to humanity the best what the world can offer. In a world faced with multiple conflicts, disasters, and pandemics, our desire rest with providing aid to those desperately in need.
